High School Student Short Story Competition

The Greek Museum Of Adelaide will launch Dr Helen Vakitsopoulos’s book Hellenic Dreaming: Greek-Australian stories in June 2025. The book conveys second generation experiences and how these experiences have shaped the Greek diaspora in Australia.  Taking inspiration from this endeavour, the museum is running a story competition for high school students, which has been proudly sponsored by the Hellenic Studies Foundation.

TOPIC: What does it mean to be Greek Australian in the 3rd & 4th generations? What role does the Greek language play in the continuation of Greek culture and identity for young people in South Australia?

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Any high school student who has a 3rd or 4th generation Greek heritage, however, 1st and 2nd generation students are also encouraged to participate with a prize awarded for this group

PRIZES: First prize is a trip to Melbourne for two, including flights, accommodation, meals & a Hellenic Museum visit. Second prize & third prizes – each to the value of $300 and $250.
